Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated Friday that people are over-reacting to the Coronavirus, as health officials and governments around the world work to prepare for a possible pandemic. At present, the virus has spread across several of the United States. California is the state with most confirmed cases at 66. The first reported death from the virus was on Wednesday in Washington State. As of Friday, across the United States, at least 245 people have been infected with the disease, and at least 14 people have died.
Most health professionals across the United States believe this number is likely to rapidly increase as new cases are discovered, but warm testing methods are insufficient. Some tech firms, including Facebook, Microsoft, and Amazon, are seeing regular business activities disrupted, which includes changes to travel or conference plans, with a portion of employers having parts of their work force to work remotely with hopes to slow the spread of the virus in the workplace. Meanwhile, financial markets continue to see steep selloffs in the United States in the wake of uncertainty about business futures surrounding the spread of the virus that originated in Wuhan, China.
