Trump ! Do Not Get Involved In Our Election, Britons and Boris Johnson

Trump issuing Cuts to National Security

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has asked the US President, now in London for a NATO conference, not to get involved in the December 12 UK election. This election will likely decide the fate of the future of UK politics and its relationship with the European Union. “Trump is, in general, a toxic political force in the UK,” according to a professor of global politics at University College London. Trump is in London, arriving on Monday, just 10 days before the election and it is clear that he will be asked questions about the UK and its internal and international affairs. Mr Johnson fears that Trump will say something that will disrupt the UK election and the Conservative Party in particular.

Mr Trump has never been shy about commenting on all issues that deal with the US and UK relationship, and this trip might be an exception. Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn is quick to point out that the Conservatives are friendly with Trump. Trump has suggested that Johnson and Nigel Farage would be an “unstoppable force” and that Corbyn would be bad for Britain if elected. Trump has stated that everything was on the table with regards to a trade deal with the US, so his involvement in the internal affairs with London might be an issue – we hope Mr Trump uses good judgement.
